Spotlight on Kirk's WebGraphicsSource
Kirk (WebGraphicsSource) Oregon
Kirk started selling things from around the house several years ago on eBay. Eventually, he opened an eBay store, and decided he wanted it to look nice. So he bought a logo program, and made his own logo. Next, he decided that he wanted his own template and layout, so he purchased one but eventually decided to improve it so he learned how to change it himself. People asked him about his logo, and he made a few for free. He liked designing logos so much, he made it a hobby. He began to get lots of requests, and decided to change his whole business plan, and to strictly do design work.
Paul Duxbury
Paul Duxbury is a UK based Online Entrepreneur, Trainer and Coach. He first ventured into internet marketing almost by accident! With a real passion for Genealogy or Family History research he started what was to become the most successful Genealogy Group on MSN. As the Group reached in excess of 1,000 members Paul realized the enormous potential of the internet. He recognized that there was an opportunity to provide high quality information to an information hungry online population and at the same time generate an income. His first sites were www.amateur-genealogist.com and www.catholic-genealogy.com and as those have continued to grow from strength to strength more genealogy sites have been added to his portfolio.
Spotlight on Accelerated Industries
About Accelerated Industries Accelerated Industries is owned and operated by Ginger Young. Based in Ohio, the company operates several websites and sells on various auction and fixed-price venues. Current product lines include cigar humidors, jewelry boxes, poker supplies, and home decor.
Ginger started selling online full-time after auctioning some used kitchen decor on eBay in 2002. She has a wide variety of prior "real life" business experiences that include everything from party plan sales and telemarketing to loss prevention and processing asbestos litigation claims. Running her own business seems to come naturally for Ginger since her dad has always operated a variety of businesses and continues to do so. In fact, they are business partners with some of the product lines that Ginger carries.
Starting Out When Ginger started selling she spent some time on the eBay discussion boards so that she could learn from experienced sellers. She learned that there is a lot of bad advice and ideas being handed out so she recommends evaluating how the ideas will affect your business if you implement them. Ginger said, "I read all of these posts that recommended everything from telling new bidders not to bid on your auctions to why you should state that you charge a fee for bounced checks. As a newbie, at first they seemed reasonable, but I quickly ended up with a 'terms of sale' (TOS) that would scare any bidder away." Ginger suggests that you keep your auction TOS positive, leave out anything that starts with "do not bid if...", and skip the long, windy sentences.
